From groups to teams

For us a team is a group of people, who have a common responsibility and cannot individually live up to their individual requirements concerning their individual performances without contributions from one or more of the other people in the group. They are dependent on each other to achieve individual success.

"Dinner the night after the workshop was so different from the previous night, and the next day we had the best staff meeting ever. We had become a team. We continued talking about the business scenarios we tested in the workshop, and the team now wants to discuss a different scenario question at each staff meeting".

Lori Sibert, Avaya Senior Manager, Logistics

Working groups that have the qualities listed to the far right of the diagram below are what we call TEAMS.

We use the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method to help working groups become a team and teams to become a REAL TEAM with optimal commitment to delivering the shared responsibility. Regardless of where the "team" starts their growth journey from THE LEFT TOWARDS THE RIGHT as an outcome of using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method to team development the team members will:

  • Have a clear understanding of their own and others’ job functions, area of responsibility and unique potential for contributing to the team's success

  • Have a solid foundation for staying cohesive, connected and pro-active when facing the challenges ahead of them

  • Have been positively forced to think about the future in terms of how their personal aspirations for
growth are aligned with the aspirations for the team growth
